Engine cranks but will not start

"Yesterday my engine stalled idling out of the channel. Jumped in the water and checked prop, nothing tangled. Tried to start again, it kept stalling and we had to swim the boat back to the dock. Now it cranks but won't fire at all. There is plenty of gas in the tank. Perhaps we are having a fuel starvation problem? The engine was just serviced recently. 6.0L Crusader 375hp inboard."

"Will, I believe you have several things to check first before you can narrow it down to other than the whole boat. Surely fuel filters and separators, fuel pump pressure, spark, sparkplugs, coil....The list goes on but these initial confirmations may help lead someone to a possible answer"

"this time of year bad gas comes to mind, is it last years gas? Todays gas doesnt keep well with out treatment. Check the dumb stuff too, your coil wire is tight, right? Will it start with liquid fire? Next check your fuel filters, there is also one on your carb. Eliminate the obvious first."

emac had a similar problem....maybe trying pouring a little gas in the carb...if the engine starts and runs briefly you know to start looking at the fuel system
