What should i do to have the e

What should i do to have the engine cover repaired on my evinrude? The cover is N/A on any parts list... The cover has some bad cracks and nicks in the cover.
 
"The engine cover can be repai

"The engine cover can be repaired as one would any fiberglass repair. Clean the repair area, grind down around the crack extending out at least an inch tapering deeper over the crack to allow for the 'glass mat'l. Use epoxy resin (vinylester will also work, polyester resin may not give the best adhesion). Once cured, sands the area level follow with a quality fairing compound. A long strand filler could be used if the cracks are superficial. Just follow the same basic procedures.
After your final fill and fairing prime & paint or have it painted.
The decals are another issue if they are going to need replacing. Some are so darned expensive it may not pay to replace them.You could have a sign maker cut you some vinyl letters. Just take a picture of them so he'll have something to work from. Good luck."
 
May be cheaper to put an ad ou

May be cheaper to put an ad out there for a used one in perfect shape. Lots of cheap parts out there sitting around in yards/garages. Online ads are often free on well frequented sites. Worth a try.

"not sure about the differance between the 86 and 88 engine covers, but they look the same as the 90 evinrudes i have on now only johnson white. if you send me your email i'll take a picture and shoot it to you or you shoot me one"
