"I am replacing my OMC inline

"I am replacing my OMC inline 6 cylinder 250ci 165hp. I have a chance to buy a good used mercruiser inline 6 165hp but I need to know what changes I will need to make to make the changeover. Will my OMC bellhousing fit this block?.I was told I will only need to use my manifold from my OMC and that pretty much it is all the same as far as starter, and altenator and installation. Any information on what to prepare for during this changeover would be greatly appreciated. The engine I hope to get is about the same year as the engine I will be removing."

"swap everything over to the e

"swap everything over to the engine...carb, electrical, manifold...you don't want to be changing wiring...bellhousing will bolt up...the only thing different on the basic engine is the paint colour...you could leave the starter on it, they'll be the same, but fuel lines and linkages to the carb etc will be different...OMC usually uses a different alt. than merc."
