Engine bogs down

1988 175vro. 2 stroke.
It takes a few cranks to start. Once started runs well. Then will start to kind of hiccup then bog down and lose power. Then eventually shuts down. It won't start again for an hour, but is sluggish. Or maybe won't start due to battery being drained from trying to start. Help

Start with posting the actual values of a compression test.-------Yes , if battery / starter is bad it will not turn the flywheel fast enough to make spark.
