Hello all,
after I replaced my oil pan, coupler, 2 new rear mounts and replaced the front ones as well, I re-installed my engine and attempted to align the engine.
I could not get it to align good enough for the tool to just slide in with some force but after talking with a volvo mechanic he said to go ahead and install the drive which we did with some force. I ran it for about a week and began to hear the gimble making some noise so after the season ended I removed the drive to replace the gimble bearing and decided to first check to see how the alignment tool fit, and it went in with ease.
After replacing the gimbal bearing I am back to the alignment tool not going in without some force
. I use a 2' piece of 1" aluminum round stock as an indicator for adjusting the front mounts to center the indicator in the gimbal bearing but I am still struggling with getting it aligned to where the tool goes in with ease.
has anyone else struggled with the engine alignment and are there any tricks that help?
thank you,
Tony F.
