Engine Alarms

I've got a Volvo 260A with dash gauges. I just bought an alarm kit for the oil pressure and water temp. The oil pressure is a no brainer - "T" into the existing sender. What do I do about the temp sender? The gauge is wired to a sender under the thermostat...I could replace that sender but don't know if the new one will work the gauge? Is there another place I can put the temp alarm sender?

First pic is of the thermostat housing - the current sender is under the center hose.

Somewhere else I read that there is a port into the cooling system on the heads, between two of the end cylinders. I found that plug and put the temp alarm sender in it's place. It seems to work so far...at least on the hose.
