Electrical issues= wont start

I have a 94 mariner engine and in the spring the lower half of the motor got under water. I did have issues getting it started due to electrical issues and replace the starter and all 3 solenoids for the engine / trim. The trim switch on the engine was shorted out so it was bypassed. After all of that it still would not work until I re-did the bilge pump and switch....all worked fine. Boat ran good and have used it for about a month.

Now the trouble comes back...the bilge switch stuck the other day and the easy way to fix was to disconnect the wire to the battery for the switch. When I got ready to go I attempted to start but all I heard was the solenoid clicking. I had no control over the trim for the motor as well. ( This is the same thing it did in the spring...No trim control = boat will not start) The bilge pump works fine but I hate to start replacing solenoids again....do you have any ideas ?

It really sounds like the electrical in your "boat" is shot and has taken out some of the electrical system on your motor for a second time now.

So you have two choices -

fix the boat's electrical before you "fix the engine again" OR

get a separate battery just for the outboard and do not connect a single wire from it to your boats electrical system (after you fix the engine again).

Fixing "what's wrong" and NOT fixing "what caused it" is like throwing money in a campfire - might burn bright for a second, but it sure don't last very long....
