Electrical issue 2003 50 hp Johnson T&T OIL INJECTED

Motor was running fine. Installed marine power switch at + battery cable. Motor ran fine then would not start. Replaced ign sw.. Motor ran fine for three trips. Now won't start. No Fire at coils or plugs. It seems that there was a shorted wire from the rectifier to the terminal strip. This seems to have been the problem all along. The bold head had 2 places that were burnt. In doing all the checking of wires we must have moved the wire enough that the short sas no longer there but came back. QUESTION. When the rectifier shorted to ground does it take out the RECTIFIER, STATOR AND TIMING RING? If we have to replace these item how can I tell what amp. stator to order?This is my first posting so if I have things in the wrong place please let me know.--Roy
