"My son has a 1978 Johnson 9.9 and he was give an electric starter, we are just not sure how to wire it up. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thnaks in advance."

Steve I'd sure like to monitor your progress on that Electric starter conversion.
Us old guys need electric start.
I was told there was no electric start available for the 9.2-9.5 and 9.9's.

So tell me more. PM me or email me...the board probably dont want to know all that.

"One of the reasons for the redesign of the 9.5 (1963 -1973 )was the fact that it was not ideally set up for controls and electric start. A good design ( 60 lbs ) was replaced by the 9.9hp and first year was 1974 and it was set-up for controls and electric start, many came from the factory as electric start. So the 9.5hp CAN NOT be adapted for electric start unless you throw a wheelbarrow full of money at the project."

I have collected four and a half of the older 9.5's.
