I have a Faria speedometer wit

I have a Faria speedometer with a paddle wheel transducer pickup. The gauge stopped working recently and at the wheel I found two wires coming from it and an air hose going into the speedo. What gives. Thanks.

a lot of times speedo's will stop working because the air hose coming from the pickup will ingest water. take the end of the hose off by the gauge and blow air through it when all of the water is out and it flows good put it back together with good tight zip ties. and test. also insure that your wire connections are good and not corroded.

"The wires coming from the speedo wheel are green and red and they don't go all the way to the speedo, all I see is the air hose going to the back of it. It looks like some kind of electro-mechanical set up. And the hose is clear."

"What I would like to know is where the wires are going that come from the pickup. They don't go to the speedo. Only the air hose goes there, but there is no air hose going to the pickup. The only wires going to the speedo are for the illumination."

"you should have a conversion

"you should have a conversion box somewhere towards the stern of the boat, you will just have to follow the wires or follow the hose."

"I gave up on speedo's completely.. My boat is in a marina on a pretty muddy, algie infested river.. I use the GPS for speed.. I picked up a hand held lowrance i-finder pretty cheap, and found that when the map is up to the second screen (the one you customize for displayed info) and you hit the exit button three times, you get a nice big speedometer that you can set the range to by using the + - buttons.. This feature seems to be completely undocumented and is accurate to 2 mph/knots/klm"
