Electric shock on shutdown

I was given a Johnson 2hp colt

I was given a Johnson 2hp colt outboard.
I runs well but when I slide the shutoff leaver to shutoff position I get a few nasty belts from it?

"Probably a short somewhere, look at the isulation on the coil wires. It kills the engine by shorting the LT side of the coil so a belt is easy to get if you have an insulation short between the earth and the handle....is the rubber grip intact?"
