Electric Fuel Primer

"Hello all,
1997 Johnson 200 HP Ocean Runner. Took it out yesterday and while attempting to plane I lost power. I noticed fuel leaking out of the area of the manual override valve (near the fogging fitting). Engine would restart with valve in the prime position, but ran rough. Any ideas please?"
