ok anyone i finally found a en

ok anyone i finally found a engine (aq151a) for my 22 ft sun runner and will be putting it in tomarow.i have a 290 out drive with a 16x12 prop theres only 2 settings idle and wot at wot im running 4800-5000 and doing 25 mph.what can i do to give this motor a break??? and not have to run wot all the time.if i ease off the throttle it falls off plane.

"Tom, I think that 16" diameter is a bit too big for your boat. Have you tried a 15 x 15 prop for example (wide blade, also known as "high-speed propeller")? Also, does your boat have trim tabs? They will help to keep the boat on the plane on most instances."
 
yes i tried a 15x17 long hub

yes i tried a 15x17 long hub
a 14x17 long hub
a 14x21 long hub
and yes i have tabs.
nothing seems to work
the best speed and power comes from the 16x12 long hub i even tried a cupped 15x17

"I think it is the second number you are most interested in Tom. That is the theoretical number of inches the prop moves ahead in one rev. The high second number is bogging down the prop and thereby your engine. That is why the 16x12 gives you the best speed and power, so far. Do as El suggests and try a 15x15 or even a 15x14 and let us know.
