If you heard someone yeling your name from horseshoe bay..it was me
My 3.o L Volvo is dying (starving) when I slow down..Its instant and the fuel system is vacuuming ..I can tell because the primer bulb on my kicker is compressed. (brand new fram ps3808) Any ideas?
PS..Its not only directed to EL P...but he was close

Whaaaaaaaattttt!!!!!!!?????? :D

I would start by draining the carb bowl to make sure there is no water in it. I would also check that the carb is not overflowing and that the idle mixture is set correctly.

Maybe an idea to take your carb apart and overhaul it is you haven't done so for a long time.

How fresh is the gas?

If the kicker prime bulb is collapsing, would that not indicate that the main engine fuel pump is sucking fuel from the line to the kicker? And would that not indicate a restriction of some sort in the main fuel tank to engine feed line? I would be tempted to try connecting a line from a portable gas container to the fuel pump. The kicker delivery hose should have a fuel shut-off at the water separator and, if so, isolate the kicker fuel line. If it still does not run when you slow down at least you will have eliminated a fuel delivery problem on the intake side.

You are absolutely correct...I changed the gas in the tank. But when I did I used the kicker line to siphon it out..meaning that any crap in the fuel was HELD IN THE SYSTEM by the filter....I removed the elbow fitting fro the fuel tank and discovered some rust and scale in it..I am not sure what to do .Its a Campion Explorer and I think I might have to cut the floor to get the tank out. Hopefully it doesnt come to that..Suggestions? Edit...It happened again today but I was able to get restarted by loosening the fuel filter and releasing the vacuum in the fuel line.
