"When servicing my motor i noticed that the earth ( I think it is a earth it is like a short rope wire that goes from the cylinder cover to the lower cowling - it could be a rope to stop the head of the motor corroding I suppose, rather than a earth) at the rear of the motor (Plugs end)was so worn/fatigued that it is as good as off. Whilst it is easy to set up a new earth looking at the bolt that attaches it to the cylinder cover it looks a bit rusty so I dont want to try and undo it for fear of snapping off. 1. Do these botls generally come out easy even if the head of the bolt is a bit rusty. 2. If no sould I connect a earth elsewhere. 3 Is the earth necessary given that the startor motor seems to run a solid Positive and Negative."
