When I first got into boating, in the 1970's, I had a fellow imployee, who started Water Skiing in the early years. He told me that they would from a wood ski and bolt an old boot to it.
He also helped a friend set a water ski endurance record. They did this on the Columbia River in Oregon, near Portland. He had a book about the event but I don't know what happened to it. The tow boats had to be changed every so often as the were runing out of gas. Another boat would come up next to the skier to give him food and drink.
I can find no record of it on the internet, and wondered if anyone still alive remembers it. The skier set a record of well over 24 hours. Anyone heard of it !!!!!!
Also a friend of mine, who loved to jump on a water ski had an White Stag Ski.
Ever heard of one? It was over 70" long and the skag was about 4 to 6 inches forward of the hear of the ski.
Just curious. Let me know
