Early model Volvo Penta SX

I am new to the SX models but have been studying the history. My main question; is there any reason to steer clear of an early model SX-ST 3868046 1.66:1?

I have talked to one person at a parts place and more or less was told to stay away from the SX-S and the SX-C models due to parts availability and to stick with the SX-M models based on my transom shield.

I have also been told that most parts interchange between all models between 1993 and 2006. That stops when the SX-A was introduced.

What say you?

Thanks for the reply. I have already talked to Ricardo, so if anyone has an opinion on this please post and don't wait to see what Ricardo has to say.

I am just unclear as to why this early model which does have the cone clutch might be a problem? Also FWIW, this isn't the very 1st model SX-S where it had Cobra SX on the side of the upper. It has the Volvo Penta SX badge on the side.

Well I would be inclined to agree. I'm thinking I was mislead, although maybe not intentionally, but right after saying stick with the SX-M models he mentioned they had some for sale.
