how do you go about removing the bushing so i can replace oring

No need to remove the bushing.------Just use a pointy tool to remove the old o-ring and push the new one in.

thanks that worked do you know what the shift rod length is to be set at took things apart a week ago to replace seals just got them. forgot to write down the measurement i think it was 21.625 not positive im hoping to get my repair manual by friday . aslo torque spec for bearing housing, waterpump,top bearing cap and shift rod housing , and lower unit mount bolts. I know its alot to ask but the informantion would get me out this weekend Thanks

Taken from 1989 60/70hp manual, average values given here:
Shift rod hight: 21 23/32th = 551.6mm
Shift rod cover: 72 in. lbs. = 8Nm
Water pump: 72 in. lbs. = 8Nm
Drive shaft bearing housing: 108 in. lbs. = 12.5Nm
Gear case 3/8": 228 in. lbs. = 19 ft. lbs. = 25.5Nm
Gear case 7/16": 348 in. lbs. = 29 ft. lbs. = 39Nm
