Hi again, E10 looks like it will become mandatory in Aus. at the end of the year. What do you run your boats on (i have a single 318)Can you run "premium" unleaded or do use the methanol blends ?

It'll run fine on E10, but be prepared for filter clogging issues. It removes crud that was happy sitting on the bottom of your fuel tank and sends it to your carbies.

Thanks again Jeff, apart from cost would there be any issue with running the premium fuel? would timing etc have to be adjusted?
Tony

Install a water seperator filter and keep on boating. BTW, if you do not have a high compression motor then you are just wasting money running premium fuel.

Thanks Ibnfshn, probably right, have a water separator and also a fiberglass fuel tank which I've heard is not compatible?
Tony

If your fiberglass tanks are pre 1985 don't even consider running E-10. The ethanol will disolve the fiberglas resin wich likes to re-harden on your intake valves until the stick open (goodbye engine). If they are post 1985, I would still keep a close eye on them. Look for dark spots forming on the tanks. In either case replace all rubber fuel lines and tank fill hoses with E-10 rated ones.
