There's thread on the Mercruiser Board of what happened to a gent "down under" when that stuff did its dirty work that's still current. Just look for the one with almost 200 posts.

turns out he had no idea they had started using ethanol down there.

turns out the sytoms have been well documented here.

Root cause was the ethanol breaking down the tank material....apparently it had to 'break' the engine twice before the real root cause was found.

I sure learned a lot from it.
