Still trying to reinstall propeller shaft. Has anyone ever worked with this model? Does it require specialized tools?

You are having difficulty with your balls ??---I have made a special tool using plastic plumbing fittings to hold them in place.-----------Or I think it can be done with a bit of care and a screwdriver.
