We have a pair of dt115 0n one

We have a pair of dt115 0n one of our pontoon cruise boats. The engines pretty much idle all day and arent run hard at all.We are having trouble with one of them not going in reverse. When we put it in gear the wheel dosent turn at all it sounds like it is close to going in gear but dosent. Is there a way to adjust the shift linkage. The motors where put on new in 07 . Also is ther any tricks to droping the lower unit.

"Jeffrey, The shift linkage a

"Jeffrey, The shift linkage adjustment is under the lower engine cover on the right side, just behind the point where the cables enter the engine cover. The plastic cable end pieces adjust by screwing them forward or back on the threaded rod that is part of the cable, once the lock nut is loosened. To do this you need to lift them off the pins that are part of the engines shift linkage.

I belive I would lift off the plastic cable connector, and shift the control unit into forward. I would then turn the prop while I shifted into forward with the engine shift linkage. Now you can adjust the cable end so it will easily slip over the shift linkage pin. Now shift into reverse while turning the prop, and see if reverse engages. There may be a better proceedure for the adjustment. If so, I will be happy to be corrected."
