"Hi, I have a DT 115 which does not run. It has been lying for some time. I've blown out all the fuel and oil lines, cleaned the carbs TWICE, cleaned out the fuel pump, replaced the spark plugs and topped up with fresh fuel but it will still not fire up. There is fuel reaching the carbs but doesn't seem to get any further. It runs for a short period by putting fuel in through the back of the carbs but runs poorly due to the overfuelling. Has anyone had the same problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.}"

always rebuild the carbs never clean them
 
what does the carb rebuild kit

what does the carb rebuild kit consist of? Do u no what the compression should be and is it possible to check with the engine cold? Cheers

I also have DT 115 with starti

I also have DT 115 with starting issues. It also has been dormant for quite awhile. I took it to a marine repair outfit which asserts that it has Suzuki's blessing. They say that it need its 4 carbs rebuilt - $800 to $900. Then they say: but it will likely have a more serious problem: the crankshaft assembly has rubber which is not friendly with the new alcohol supplemnented fuel and that will likely result in a need to replace that unit whic will be another $3500. On an early 1990's} engine - a questionable investment. I am not a mechanic and this is pushing me to consider essentially give away a fine 18 foot Olympic bowrider. I guess I should get a second opinion but am not very trusting at this point.
