Dropping lower unit nissan ns40d tips?

Any tips on dropping the lower unit on a nissan?
I have to drop the lower unit on a new to me engine. its not pumping water.
Also the darn shift cable is broken.

Disconnect the shift rod, unbolt the LU, drop it.

Where would i disconnect the shift rod?

Using your Factory service manual (available from any dealer, including me) as a guide, drive out the stainless roll pin from the shift coupler.
