Drive Swaps Pre- Alpha> ????

Hey there

Well I think I have a crappy, beat pre alpha on my hands. The zincs were painted over and it was moored, and the aluminum is corroded and the shift is tough. But- I did come by a ALPHA 2 upper and lower for cheap and wonder if it is swappable, and if any what parts are reusable. The mounted prealpha is a 1980.

No on the Alpha GEN II type.You need Alpha or series1 (Mod1) to swap parts.
What engine size or gear eatio do you have?

The ratio I need is 1:8.4 Thats too bad. Can I bolt the Alpha2 to the prealpha gimbal ?

Nope, GEN II with GEN II only.I have that 1.84 drive available on consignment.

20 I've got a gen 1 upper 1.84:1 from a 470. if you're interested. I was about to sell it on craigslist. I put a new oil seal in the input shaft. The gears looked sharp and clean and the u-joints are in good shape. The lower drive shaft seal was dry so no leaks. Let me know if that helps. I'm in West Seattle.

Here is another guy that might be able to help you out. I've seen him offer up used Alpha 1 outdrives that he's gone through and put in new seals, pumps, oil for less than $1000.
