Drive Shaft Seal Question

I have a 1969 25 HP Evinrude 25902B and I am replacing the water pump. I have an OMC Drive shaft seal but i can't figure out how it should go in the gearcase. Looking at the seal it is angled so the whole width of it is not in contact with the drive shaft only the edge of the angled seal is. I can't figure out if it should go in so the angle goes facing is on top or bottom. I hope i explained it good enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look for the coil spring inside the seal.--------That should face in towards the oil.
