Drive shaft and shift rod 25HP Johnson

What year would my motor be.... And
I cannot get the shift rod out or the drive shaft and this is making the task of changing the impeller because the cover of the impeller will not come out over the nut that holds the split shaft together ?

Why will the drive shaft not come out ?
Am I to put a lot of yanking pressure on the shaft ?
 
I got the shift rod nut off bu

I got the shift rod nut off but the drive shaft seems to be holding up or snagged towards the motor and it won't let loose would there be something holding it tight up in there ?
