I have a 2005 Mako 216 bow rider powered by a Merc 225xl 4 stroke saltwater. the boat has dual batteries with a cut off switch. Now the #1 battery is being drained with the switch in the off position. When i serviced the boat i found the bilge not working. I found the reset button on the bilge and it works but the battery is getting drained. Any suggestions? The reason i mention the bilge is because it is the only thing I know of that will work while the batteries are switched off. Thanks guys

Re: draining the battery

Disconnect "everything" from the battery and charge it up, then test it in a couple of days - it may simply be a bad battery (even if it's relatively new).

If it stays charged, hook up one thing at a time to see where the power leak is - it could be your battery switch itself...

Re: draining the battery

The last time I had a problem w/a battery, I found a pinched wire for a downrigger switch. I agree with the other post, you are going to have to eliminate one thing at a time unless you are knowledgeable on electric circuits and know how to test.
