"I have a 1992 3.0 Mercruiser

"I have a 1992 3.0 Mercruiser Motor that needs to be drained for the cold snap this week. I know it will need to be put to rest soon, but I like to fish this part of the season because of the lack of other boaters, and the availability of fish feeding for the winter months ahead. I did it years ago, but the cold snap hit sooner than usual. I am expecting an indian summer (Hopefully)
but for safty sakeI need to drain it this week, actually today!! I remember two spots to drain the motor, I think the block, and the elbow????
Help Please
Kent"

"should be two drains on the b

"should be two drains on the block, one on both sides, then one on each exhaust manifold, then one on both manifolds, lower the stern drive down so any water drains out of it,"

"tim, he has the 4 cyl. motor.

"tim, he has the 4 cyl. motor.
that had 1 on the side of the block and 1 on the underside of the manifold.draining the manifold usually drains the riser also on the inline 4`s"

Probe the drain holes w/a flex

Probe the drain holes w/a flexible wire or heavy solder to let the rust crap to drain out; they block the water flow.

"I have a 1979 470 with interc

"I have a 1979 470 with intercooler. I have been opening drains at the rear bottom of the intercooler and the elbow. I assume the block ones would drain the antifreeze, which I don't want to do. Am I correct? Tnx. JW in Dixie"

"for warren,
that is correct

"for warren,
that is correct, the rearmost plug in the exchanger is the raw water side, the inner one is the A/F side."

"I am draining my 1987 3.7 L c

"I am draining my 1987 3.7 L closed loop merc for the winter, but I can't find the exhaust riser and exhaust elbow drain plugs. I also can't find the power steering cooler drain plug. Mine doesn't look like the manual's diagram. This is my first lay up with his boat, and I don't want to miss anything."
