Draining 135 Optimax for storage

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, and I see there's a lot of great information here.

I've winterized my 135 Optimax (2008) for the first time this past week.

I've got it lowered completely (the motor is vertical). Will any residual water in the motor drain out naturally, or do I need to remove anything from the motor itself to drain?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Should drain itself.----You might want to turn the motor manually to make sure the waterpump is drained.----Make sure there is no water in the gear oil in the lower unit.

Hi Racerone,

Thanks for the information.

I cranked it over by hand when I put the oil in the cylinders. Spun it about 10-12 times. Think that's enought to get remaining water out?

It will be fine w/the engine stored vertically. If stored horizontally you need to wrap the LU w/ heavy plastic to keep water out.
