What engine model and year do you have in your boat?

Often the oil drain plug may have a gasket washer in place or possibly an O-Ring but adding sealant isn’t needed or suggested.

Or are we talking about the boat hull drain plug in one of the engine sub-forums?

It is a Tracker Sport Fish, 20' 6" Aluminum stern drive. 135 hp. Main drain leaking. Will try new O ring, along some teflon tape.
