Hi, I removed my 2003 DPS-MHP drive, bellows, and pivot housing at the end of last season. I'm getting ready to reinstall them with new drive and exhaust bellows, coolant tube o-ring, etc. The exhaust bellows is actually just an exhaust tube that connects to the transom plate. It does not connect to the pivot housing. (MHP) style.
Can I connect the drive bellows to the pivot housing lip seal before I bolt up the pivot housing? I would need access through the bottom of the installed pivot housing to get to the hose clamps that hold the drive bellows to the transom plate after the pivot housing was bolted up. It seems to make sense to do it this way because I would be better able to make sure I have a good seal at the pivot housing lip rather than trying to connect the pivot housing while the drive bellows is already attached to the transom plate and forcing the drive bellows through the hole in the pivot housing.
Can I fit and install the new exhaust tube up through the bottom of the pivot housing after the pivot housing is bolted up?
Is anyone using any kind of sealer on the exhaust bellows lip seal to the pivot housing? If so, what do you recommend?
Thanks,
Chris
