dp leaking after bellows job

Hi all - did bellows on a 2003 chapparal, ujoints were so rusted couldnt even get circlips out / gimbal bearing outer was frozen in and all balls were missing / hammered.. I had to drill out the outer.

I noticed the round alu section was quite corroded away but stil seemed like enough for clamp to grip on.. as usual put on adhesive and put it on. As i read there is no ring on the aft side of the ujoint bellows (like alpha gen2).. the rubber just sits there? and also no outdrive gasket, just the wierd shaped oring around the water fitting..

This is a duo prop -

any ideas?

It sounds as though you are (or have) replaced these parts, so I'm not quite sure what you are asking about!

Apologies i left it in the title, there is water coming in - I havent seen it but friend said its near the ujoint bellows area- far as i know the vp's have a long hose for shift cable that comes up - so only thing down there that "could" leak is the bellows?

So question is:

Am I correct this drive does not use the ring to seal bellows (like merc gen2)? Just the hose clamp on transom and adhesive on drive and slips inside the ring?
And also am i correct that this drive does not use an outdrive gasket?

Not sure where to look - will pull drive today

Thanks

This? looks similiar to the cobra drive system where the upper unit fits inside and creates the seal on the bellow

I believe its a dp-s.. I looked ata diagram to verify, no ring to seal rear ujoint section.. and no drive gasket?! How on earth does this thing seal? Pulled drive today, def signs of water in ujoint area.. I cant figure out how the unit seals.. only the bellows showing and drive, with the 4 grooves for the bolts theres no way it will keep the water out.. plus no gasket either?

Just seems unbelievable...

Close up: some of the alu is corroded away but still seems to have a very good seal from clamp:

These openings in the casing is prime for water to come in: Arrows point to bolt channels - how would that offer any sealing? Also - on upper cover theres a good 3/16 gap -

Hate to say it but im tempted to make a darn gasket and put in a ring in the bellows facing aft... and rtv the upper section where theres a HUGE opening into bellows area..
