DP-A power trim fluid loss help

Have major ATF leak in water fluid gone in resovoir now. Will drive flop up now if I go forward or reverse? My boat gets boat lifted in an out..can't tell where in the hydrolics its leaking from..since I rarely use my trim because of boats dynamics can I avoid a hall out and still use the boat without my drive flopping up?

Ayuh,... It'll only rear up in reverse,... forward pushes down,....

But,... yer hyd. system is fulla water, 'n will corroded,...

I figured some water would get in the system but there is none in the reservoir. To save my boating season I was planning on topping off my reservoir with a green atf like green marine iso 32. Ill put a link below. With my drive down now and never using my trim again for the rest of the season wont this at least stop the drive kicking up in reverse. I figure any leaks will be very minimal if I do this. I'll plan on purging and fixing or replacing the hydraulics when Im on the hard. Anyone agree with this theory of mine? If this is a DP-A drive, it does indeed have a hydraulic power trim/tilt.

If the hydraulic fluid is gettting low in the pump reservoir, and if you cannot see any visible signs of leakage at/near the pump nor lines......., then the fluid is likely leaking at one or both hydraulic cylinders..... could be the seals, or it could be a hydraulic line fitting.

Looks like the boat will need to be hauled out of the water.

And BTW, the DP-A drive does use a Reverse Latch system as a break-a-way feature in the event of an impact.
If the latch unit is malfunctioning, this drive can/may kick up in Reverse.

If so, it has nothing to do with the hydraulic cylinder system.
(your cylinders may have become contaminated with excess air..... in which case this should limit reverse kick-up to a short angle only)

Ricardo if my reverse latch is working which I'm sure it is, will that alone prevent the drive from coming up in reverse? or does it latch to a bar/mechanism that is held down by the hydraulic rams?

Yes and Yes.

What used to be called the "set pin" is now part of the anchorage bracket. It basically performs the same duty.
Your anchorage bracket is what the hydraulic cylinders attach to.

put boat in reverse and drive is staying down..even over 1200 rpm. Guess there's barely just enough hydraulic pres. in combination with reverse latch to keep the drive down even though there's not a drop of atf left in the power trim reservoir...it appears I can hold out the season thank god.
