dont know year or model #

:confused:i just bought a boat with motor(evinrude)two days ago,i took it out to see if it worked(motor),it did,but smoked a little,would run a minute then cut off,seemed like it was flooding,i think its 20hp,not sure,cant find model#,i did find serial#252re0005932,and the color of the motor is blue and white with evinrude markings on each side,thats all the information i have on this motor,can anyone help me find the right year and model of this model PLEASE.......thanks.......almost forgot the motor also has evinrude "sportster" markings on it

In looking at those number closely (252re0005932), the 252 normally indicates that the hp would be 25hp (1st 2 digits) and the remaining digit of "2" would be the year (1972), however the next two digits (in my book) would not pertain to a Evinrude. Normally the 1972 model number would be either 25202, 25203, 25252, or 25253.... there would be no digits such as "RE" in the model number (at least not in my book).
