"And if so, where ? I am thinking about converting from points and I need to know this to determine correct module/coil combo. I don't think this engine has it - can anyone confirm or tell me where it's located?"

"It should unless it has been removed. Under the intake manifold between No. 2 and 3 cylinders. It is a ceramic rectangular shaped block with terminals on each end.

Have a great day,

"Thanks Rob. I don't see a 'ceramic rectangular' block in that location. The VP wiring diagram I have shows a 40A fuse with reset button and Relay in that area. They are marked A and B respectively in the attached photo. Do I have these mixed up? Is one of these actually the ballast resistor?

"tom,

"tom,

In your picture "A" is your thermal fuse which regulates most of the vessels electronics. If of a major catastrophic failure this should trip in which you "press to reset". but in that case there was prob a reason it tripped.

"B" in your picture is your starter relay which tells the starter when and when not to engage while starting and running.

The answer to your question is NO. Neither one of those is a ballast resistor. My aq125 does not have a ballast resistor. In place of my points i used a Pertronix 2842 distributor kit and a flamethrower 40k coil epoxy filled with a 3ohm internal resistor. That takes place of any external resistance.

Just remember for a 4cyl use at least 3ohm's of resistance and for 6 or 8cyl's use 1.5ohm's.

with the flamethrower #40611 coil you can scrap that external ballast resistor.

And EL. P & Ricardo E.,

If Im wrong about any of this please feel free to correct me as Im just trying to help others with the knowledge that I have which is indeed "subpar" compared to you.."
