Hi All,

Does anybody know which year this engine is?

the serial number is 9053263
it says it's made in belgium

I am trying to search for the wiring diagram
from here

but I am not sure which one is correct if any

That is a 1974 number but that is a clam-shell which is late '70s early '80s. Pic of the internals will help id the engine, and I can't find a 70 HP listed for '74

I bought a manual & think this is the one.....but my switch box is throwing me as to where the brown red & white go from the switch box as the diagram above says there is a violet wire? baffled

That is a 1974, distributor. This is a link to a wiring diagram, it's for a 650/65 HP but same thing. Can't be sure of the HP of your motor as the decals and clam shell don't match the engine. 29.jpg (1424×1046) (maxrules.com)

Canadian number and scetchy for year identification but when the number is put in this forum, this parts list comes up Mercury / Mariner (30 / 40 (2 Cylinder) 2-Stroke) Engine Components (marineengine.com)

Yeah I got that too but can't identify the year. Mariner are so hard to find years compared to others unfortunately but a gem of an engine. Thanks for the reply I'll have to keep digging

Hurry-----Visit your local friendly dealer.------Mercury / Mariner parts are ordered according to serial number.----Year of manufacture means nothing at a dealer parts counter !
