Do all Quicksilver Remotes Beep when turning the key to the ON position

"I have a Quicksilver Throttle Remote on an '87 Bass Tracker. It's connected to an '87 Mercury Classic Fifty. Isn't the remote supposed to BEEP once when turning the key to start. The reason I ask, is that mine does not. It acts like it maybe wants to (I get a little static out of the small speaker), but doesn't. I just want to make sure my alarm is working in case of overheating. My motor doesn't have Autoblend..it is pre-mix.

I'm not 100% sure which model of Quicksilver Remote I have. It has a square "throttle only" button, and the tilt/trim is a switch on the long part of the handle. Here is an illustration of my Remote from Crowley Marine:

"Not in '87. Not on a 50 anyhow. There were no sensors for heat or oil. That was optional. The heat sensor would be a wire lead near the #1 spark plug if it was there.
If it is there, that ground out the wire lead and turn the key to check.

What you need is a water pressure gauge.

"Are there any water pressure switches available? Considering heat comes only after water has died, has the manufacturers not thought of this option yet? Think along lines of our automobiles' oil pressure switch.

The newschool motors use pressure sensors for the alarm.

Hmmm. I think the alarm would always stay on at idle if you did that. There is barely 3 PSI at idle on this motor.
