chiefalen ok got it runs like a top!!!! one wire dont know a about comes off the dist one wire goes to the shift senser got any ideas?

Re: dist

hi chiefalen no i got the tach hooked up. the instructions shows a diagram for the one black wire to the shift interrupt switch but does not show witch wire on the switch it. has one black wire and one black and white wire??

Re: dist

What does it show for the throttle neutral switch? You also have a kill switch with a lanyard you hook to yourself some call it the man overboard switch ?

There 2 screws at the base for the wires ?

The cutout i think goes to the pos side, will have 2 wires off it the cutout grounds on the block of the motor to a stud.

Re: dist

The shift interuptor switch grounds out the coil.

So when the switch is "made" / closed, the white wire makes contact with the Black wire (ground) by way of the switch,

So the white wire from the switch must go to the neg side /tach side of coil.

The black wire should go to a junction block where two black wires are held togeather by a long screw that screws into a ground (metal frame)

The other wire is on the insulated side of the junction block and that is where the wire from the NEG side of the coil should connect.

If you do not have a juction block then black from switch to ground, white to coil neg.

Chieflan

For future reference I do not think you would want to coonect +12v at coil + and short it straight to ground thru the switch.........Probably make toast out of it in short time........+ 12 volts to ground without any resistance would be a sparky situation I would think.

Maybe a good way of thinking about it and remembering the interuptor shorts the - side of coil

Re: dist

About the neutral safty switch that hooked up, you don't want to start the boat in gear, and kill switch or man overboard switch you have one? that one hooked up?

Re: dist

you said "The cutout i think goes to the pos side"

that is +12volts

i dont think it is a good idea

Re: dist
