Different fuel pumps for 55 hp and 60 hp?

I purchased a new fuel pump for my (i believe 1986) Evinrude 60 hp 2 cyl engine.

I used the pump for two weeks, and then it failed.

Question is, could this be the wrong pump for my engine? Is there a difference between the 55 hp pumps, and 60 hp pumps?

The auction stated that it was:

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]For Use On Engine Models:1976-1989 25-55HP, non-VRO models.
Replaces:OMC - 0398338,0395713,0394543,0398338,0432451,0433387,0438556
Mallory - 9-35352
Redline - RL7352

It was my understanding that the 55 hp and 60 hp was the same engine? At least very very close?

Thanks

Those pumps are simple and relable, often replaced for some reason or another.-------Some of the later 2 cylinder motors have a spot to bolt the pump on directly on the side of the block.--2 hoses go to those pumps.-Perhaps there is an issue with the crankcase pulses that drive the pump.----------Look for a pump for an 83 model or later 48 HP.----Also the commercial models used the direct bolt on version.

Thanks alot. I installed the plug from the old carbs. Engine is running great now. What is the difference between the 55 and 60 hp versions? I got my hands on a much newer 55 hp engine today.
I used the carbs and fuel pump from that one.
