I'm looking to replace my 305 OMC 225(1978 model year) possibly with a 305 Mercruiser 228(1984 model year). I'm not replacing my OMC outdrive just the engine. I have all of the necessary accessories from my old OMC 305 to put on the Mercruiser 305 so thats not an issue. My question here is will the Mercruiser 305 block bolt up to my OMC 800 drive without any major issues? As far as I know the engine blocks themselves should each have the same bolt holes as each other as thats how they came from GM correct?
