Hi,
ihave just noticed a pink tube coming out of the port side cover on a new DF15A and was wondering if anyone had a idea oh what it is for. It comes out of the port side leg cover near the transom mount. The far end is connected and sealed, if I suck on it I do not draw any air. I have been through the owners manual as well the exploded parts diagrams and cannot see it

any suggestion before I go back to the dealer will be appreciated

I can see the drain tube connected and it seems to head down the leg it is very similar to the tube I am looking at. We will ask the dealer tomorrow when they open, and I will update this post
cheers

It is a breather tube for the gearbox, it is meant to attach to a plate on the the underside of the cowling, but it is a loose fitThanks for your interest and suggestions

This is not a breather tube for the gearbox, it is a drain tube for part of the fuel supply. This image shows where it is supposed to be placed when it's not being used.

As far as I know the gearbox on these motors (DF9, DF15, DF20) is sealed with no breather, just the two drain/fill openings.

I have the same problem, where do I have to insert it ?
Azand in this string is correct, stickerbush is wrong (they are not reading the location of the tube the original person stated)- it comes out of the gearbox and there is a flat metal plate (looks like the engine tilt flapper on a Tohatsu if you've seen that) just under the engine head that has a protrusion on it - the tube fits snug (albeit I agree not in any secure manner) onto that protrusion.

Sorry if this was answered but it is right in the manual … the pink tube is a drain tube for the fuel system when removing the motor from the boat. The little screw above it in the aluminum block is the drain screw. The little tab on the tiller tensioner is just a keeper.

Not to be that guy but sticker ish is correct. Page 52 in the manual under “engine removal” has the diagram and procedure to drain the fuel system.
