2016 DF140A 1000hrs
Checked valve clearances at 1000hr service - All inlet in spec at .25mm, exhaust are all out of spec between .28 - .78mm!
Doesn't make sense with the exhaust tappets being loose. I live in a remote area of Australia that uses odourless fuel called Opal, suspect this is possibly a major contributing factor. I was advised to run two stroke oil at 200:1 to offset any issues with the fuel which I have done for the last couple of years. Don't know the history of the motor and if clearances were checked previously.
Has anyone ever seen anything similar? Also the .78mm clearance won't come back into spec with the largest shim available. What are the thoughts on options? Motor runs fine, no smoke or temp issues and compression is good.

From a 2009 DF90A Service Manual. Are you using the formula given? I’m still under 200 hours so I’ve haven’t checked my clearances or even had cylinder head cover off.

Thanks - yes used the same calculation, I've got the service manual for the DF140.
Usually exhaust valves clearance will tighten up, currently at a loss as to why I'm seeing such large clearances.

Clearances that far out of spec are puzzling to me.----Time to inspect valve train parts.----Which cylinder is at 0.78mm
