DF 250 ss stuck in reverse

I recently spun the hub on my DF 250. Got the boat home and thought putting it in reverse would assist while taking the prop off. Spun the prop just a little and it clicked into gear. Took off the prop and got it re-hubbed. Put the prop back on and now the shifter will not go back into neutral. I have a hot foot for acceleration so the shifter only works the gears. The shifter will go backwards freely but going forwards it stops solid before going into neutral, feels like its hitting a solid piece of steel. Any suggestions on what I did. Everything worked fine before I put the motor in reverse at home and it clicked into place.
