DF 140 will not start

"Twin 140s Port operates fine

"Twin 140s Port operates fine starts stops and the tilt works fine.Starbord will not start and the tilt will not work.Was stranded on the lake.I jumped the positive from the battery terminal to the starter then turned the switch, she started up and ran fine.But would not restart with the switch after shutdown.To get it trimed up for the trailer i had to shut it down and jump it again in the same way to operate the trim.any sugestions?"

Don't know if this will help, but there is a white wire from the switch to the engine that, on mine, has a butt connector just inside the cowling down by the wire harness.

When I made a hard turn the connector came loose and the engine died. There was no response to the key at all.

I didn't try the jumping method as I did't think of it. But I did find that the wire was too tight and pulled more slack in it, reconnected it and have had no further problems since.

On an older Johnson I had, the same problem was the result of a blown fuse. I don't know if Suzuki has this fuse in the circuit but it does seem likely. If so it's probably under the cowling also.
