"my boat was winterized by a m

"my boat was winterized by a marina last year and i want to get it running again.my water intake hose needs to be put back on. they disconnected it where it meets the tube on the transom.also, what do i do with the coolant tank. it looks to be empty?? any suggestions would help a lot!!"

"It's called "Commissi

"It's called "Commissioning" or "Re-Commissioning".
Sounds as though some unnecessary measures may have been taken during this so called winterizing..... but without more info, I can't point fingers here!
However, I am curious as to why they would disconnect the suction hose when there is a low point drain in the copper tube.......... unless they used this for installing E/G (ethylene glycol) in the sea water side?
Also, why empty your heat exchanger of E/G if to not change it.... in which case it would be full?
Hmmmmm.

I'd sure do a new raw water pump impeller if this one sat in the housing all season long.
Connect the suction hose with the proper clamp.
Replace any drain plugs that have been removed."

Yes i would like to re-commiss

Yes i would like to re-commission my boat. Suction hose is off because that is where they installed Ethylene Glycol. Heat exchanger is empty??i would like to fill it but do not know the proper procedure and it does not explain in my manual??Would like to get out in the water ASAP

"Well, tighten that hose conne

"Well, tighten that hose connection very well. A suction leak at this point can/may kill your sea water system.

Install all drain plugs that may have been removed. A good marina/mechanic will have left any/all of these clearly marked for you... and probably bagged up. If not, consider whether or not to use them again.
(there was no need to have left that suction line disconnected, IMO)

Fill the H/E as you would an automobile system.
50/50% mix is OK. Best to use distilled water in the mix.

If you are still using ignition contact points, now may be the time for checking/setting/replacing etc. new spark plugs, etc.

Oil/filter should be new as of winterizing.

Remove the cover from the Raw Water pump.... take a visual of the impeller.
NOTE: if those little bolts do not want to move easily, STOP! Heat the aluminum housing before continuing.

Plug the lowest most drain hole on the out drive. Connect your garden hose "muffs".
Run the engine, bring up to temp, check for leaks.
Let engine cool..... check E/G level again.

This may not be all inclusive! You'd know what else may be of concern.

Good luck, and I hope that helps you, Jesse."

Ricardo E. thanks for your hel

Ricardo E. thanks for your help. i appreciate it a bunch!!! as of last year the boat ran great only 50 hours on it since overhaul..i have in my house the pertronix ignitor kit #2842 and flamethrower 40k coil 3 ohm that i have yet to put on. i have a new vp prop that still needs put on lol...i did a new sport se 300 hydrofoil and humminbird 161 gps combo yesterday. so its coming along lol... however last year my water temp gauge was not working at all neither was my fuel gauge. hopefully they are simple things as i do not have the money for a marina to work on it.
