"I have been checking into this board for a couple of months now and I have learned a lot--
there are a number of definitions that still escape me. I see the following terms often but have never seen them defined: looper, VRO and FITCH. I would be grateful for any enlightenment.

"I'll give it a try.
Looper: You have two ways of getting the air/fuel mix into the combustion chamber 'loop' and 'cross'. In the 'loopers' the air/fuel mix passes the piston top (flat piston) hits the opposite cylinder wall, makes a 'loop' up to the head, and back again. In the 'cross' engines the mix is forced by a potrution on the piston top up into the combustion area of the head and then passes straight out the exhaust ports.
The VRO is OMC's name for their oil/fuel mix pump. Consists of three 'parts': the air motor which is driven by the cranck case pulses, the fuel pump and the oil pump. They are linked together mechanically and the oil pump piston pumps the oil into the fuel pump chamber where it is mixed.
FICHT is a fuel injection system (named after the inventor) that uses electro magnetic operated solenoids to inject fuel straight into the combustion chamber. Through the cranck case there is only air and oil mix, oil is 'injected' into the air intakes and mixed with the air."
