"Help if anyone can.I have a 1994 EFI,Mariner 200 h.p.high performance engine.About 1 month ago my wife and I were going fishing, got in and engine started fine, then when I put it in gear it would not take gas it would just die,I did get it to fun a time or two but then after that it would not start again. So I took it to a boat shop, they adjusted some kind of plates and adjusted TPI switch, still it would not run, took it back a second time, this time they put a kit in the fuel pump said we got it ,took it to the river same thing it was very hard to start,Well thought I need to find someone else to fix this thing before I go broke on let's try this.I took it to another mechanic he said that a gasket had been left out from between the fuel pump and where it bolts to the engine, said it ran fine with him so last Friday I go pick it up take it out Sat.Go about two miles it was like turning off the switch. It would hit when you tried to start it.Finally it would not even hit so I took it back to the ramp about two miles with the trolling motor. The mechanic said that he has checked out all the electrical parts, stator, switchboxes and anything else he could everything checked out good. This engine has always started and ran great.I hope someone can give me some ideas as to what might be going on.Oh yes the first mechanic said that the engine has 120# of comp.per cyclinder.Help Help"

"First I know nothing about this motor but I do know a few things about EFI systems.
The thing that cought my attention was you stating that the fuel pump had been rebuilt.
Now, I have never seen an EFI system with anything but an electric fuel pump which is not rebuildable.
A mechanical vacuum driven fuel pump would not have enough pressure to operate the EFI injection.
Something is not correct here."

"I too know nothing, but would dissconect the kill wire just to make sure its not something stupid, usually black/yellow on the older systems"

"Glenn,
Depending on what type of pump and how much pressure it puts out you may find an after market one at an auto parts house or on eBay.

Good luck."
