"I'm a new member to this site and am about to begin a dampener plate replacement project on my Mainship 36 DC 270HP port engine w/o hauling. It's a Velvet drive tranny. Any advice or experiences would be appreciated. Todd & Scott, thanks for your previous replies to my initial mis-directed post. Did I mention I was new to this site? Thanks,
Chuck"

You're in luck, it's pretty simple.

The key is to get the back of the engine supported so you can remove the trans, or if you're really lucky, slide it back far enough to get the bell housing off without completely removing it. I use a wedge shaped 4x4 and other misc boards under the oil pan. Just make sure you're supports are secure. If the back of the motor falls, well let's just say it's bad.

Don't forget to check the alignment when you're done.

Have fun,

Rick"
