did you tilt the motor while at sea to see if there was any debris (plastic bag) blocking the water intake on the lower unit?

How long did it take you to get back to shore?

Is the water streaming from the pee hole now?

"did the over heat alarm sound?
the stream of water is only an indicator of water flow thru the engine, water could have been flowing anyhow/cooling.i do reccomend pulling the plugs and checking for water in cylenders.
plugs should be light brown in color/not steam cleaned.
post back with a little more info, keeping it at low rpm was the right thing to do."

yes i checked for debris nothi

yes i checked for debris nothing. it took me about 20mins to get back to shore the water is now streaming ok now slight water coming out of exhaust i pushed strimmer twine up the tube before that i tried blowing & sucking pee tube
it felt blocked the engine has not had a fresh water flushing till this happened could it have been a salt build up

"Sounds like you need a good power flush on your cooling system. Man, you may want to flush your motor more often. If you haven't changed your waterpump or T-Stats in awhile, well then no better time then the present.

You should be ok..check that alarm switch."

"Also, mix the precise amount of 2-cycle oil in your fuel ..no more and no less. Try and find the Evinrude/Johnson XD-50 2-cycle oil if you can. Its the best.}}"
